Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Dr. Suzanne Barnes is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who specializes in the care of pediatric patients with cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial anomalies. After completing her residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she went on to further her education by completing a fellowship in Pediatric Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery. Dr. Barnes strives to treat every patient as if they were her own family. She is known for her reassuring bedside manner and kind demeanor. She is passionate about caring for patients in the same manner in which she would want to be treated.
Dr. Barnes understands surgery can be an overwhelming experience to the patient and their family and makes every effort to ease their anxieties regarding their upcoming surgery. At the end of the day, she loves being able to have an impact on children's lives in a positive way.
Her area of special interest includes cleft lip, cleft palate, craniofacial anomalies, Pierre Robin sequence, mandibular distraction osteogenesis, hemifacial microsomia, alveolar bone grafting, removal of benign tumors of the bone and soft tissue, facial fractures, pediatric trauma, orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery), and TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders.
