Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Sharon E. Cissell, APRN, is a nurse practitioner with Norton Children’s Surgery. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Bellarmine University in Louisville, and her master’s degree in nursing from Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights. Sharon is certified in basic life support and pediatric advanced life support techniques.
Sharon specializes in pediatric general surgery, providing care for children in the hospital who have had surgery for common and complex conditions. She also cares for those with injuries from accidents, burns or sports.
Sharon enjoys the collaborative nature of pediatric surgery, and works as part of a team with the nursing staff, pediatricians, physical therapists, child life therapists, and many other specialists. Her care philosophy means caring for the whole family. She might see families on their worst day, and she feels it’s an honor to be there for them, explain how things work in the hospital, and what they can expect.
When Sharon is not caring for patients, she enjoys spending time with her family. She also enjoys cooking, reading and walking her two dogs.
