Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Minh Dien Duong, M.D., is a pediatric nephrologist with Norton Children’s Nephrology who cares for children with kidney conditions that require long-term and specialized care. He also serves as an assistant professor of pediatrics at the UofL School of Medicine.
Dr. Duong earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and completed his pediatric residency training in Vietnam at Children’s Hospitals 1 and 2 in Ho Chi Minh City. He later completed a pediatric nephrology fellowship at the National University Hospital in Singapore. After moving to the United States, Dr. Duong completed an additional pediatric residency and pediatric nephrology fellowship at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in New York, New York.
Dr. Duong’s clinical and research interests include acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, nephrotic syndrome, lupus nephritis and tubular renal diseases. He is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality ongoing care, and values building long-term relationships with his patients, supporting children and their families every step of the way.
He is a member of multiple organizations, including the International Pediatric Nephrology Association (IPNA), American Society of Pediatric Nephrology and Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium. He serves as council member for the IPNA Sister Renal Centers Program, which aims to build capacity, improve training and advance care for children with kidney disease in resource-limited settings.
Dr. Duong knew from a young age that he wanted to become a physician because of his strong interest in medical science and his desire to help people who are sick. He has been recognized for excellence in teaching and medical education at UofL, including receiving faculty teaching awards, being named UofL’s Clinical Professor of the Year, and earning an Outstanding Achievement award for teaching medical students. Dr. Duong is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care while supporting both children and their families every step of the way.
