Biography/ Philosophy of Care

Michael D Ruppe, MD, is a board certified pediatric critical care medicine physician with a specialized interest in pediatric cardiac critical care. He serves as the CICU Quality Improvement Director for the “Just-for-Kids” Cardiac Critical Care Unit at Norton Children’s Hospital. He is also the clinical champion for Norton Children’s Hospital to the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium (PC4). In 2012, he became chair of the Norton Children’s Hospital Cardiac Center Continuous Quality Improvement Conference and is actively involved in a variety of projects related to the care of cardiac critical care patients.



Dr. Ruppe has an active role in the multi-center, prospective NEAR4KIDS registry and is involved in several projects related to improving advanced airway management practices for critically-ill children. As a leader in point-of-care bedside ultrasonography, he also is involved in resident and fellow physician ultrasound training and use of ultrasonography for novel applications.
