Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Maya M. Brown-Zimmerman, MPH, MS, CGC, is a genetic counselor with Norton Children’s Genetics Center, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine. She has a particular interest and experience in treating aortopathies, which are conditions that weaken the aorta. Maya earned her master’s degrees in public health and genetic counseling from The Ohio State University in Columbus. She also is an advisor to the Professional Advisory Board of The Marfan Foundation.
Maya is passionate about making genetic information and care accessible to everyone. She is dedicated to ensuring that patients and families have the tools they need to feel empowered in making informed decisions about their health care.
In her spare time, Maya loves to read, cook Brazilian food and spend time with her family.
