Biography/ Philosophy of Care

Dr. Mary Sandquist joined the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Louisville in 2016 and practices in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Critical Care Unit (CICU) at Norton Children’s Hospital. She has worked to improve emergency processes throughout Norton Children’s Hospital since joining faculty via the use of simulation. Dr. Sandquist has employed new methods to teach residents how to care for critically ill patients during urgent and emergent clinical situations. She was named Outstanding Clinical Professor of the Year by the Pediatric House Staff at the end of her first year at Norton Children’s Hospital.
