Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Dr. Folsom is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics with an Associate appointment in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville. She is board-certified in both adult and pediatric endocrinology, and provides endocrine and diabetes care for patients of all ages. She has a special interest in caring for transgender patients, as well as in easing the transition from pediatric to adult care for patients with type 1 diabetes and other chronic endocrine conditions.

Clinical interests include general pediatric and adult endocrinology, transition in type 1 diabetes, and transgender health.
Research interests include quality improvement related to transition from pediatric to adult diabetes, and the effects of gender affirming hormone treatment in transgender individuals.

Dr. Folsom was absolutely amazing! She was very detailed in her explanations, even discussing everything in ways that my child could understand and was interested. She made my child feel seen and heard from the moment she stepped in the room. Phenomenal physician.

This being my first appointment, unfortunately Dr. Folsom and the surrounding endocrinology team have not had a chance to show their effectiveness of their long term care. However, as far as first impressions go, I can't imagine a better experience entering the office for the healthcare I sought, especially with the stigmas surrounding it. I could hardly sleep the night before, and yet, my worries evaporated the second I stepped into the room, and I was comfortable, felt heard and respected, and given just enough of a peek to know that Dr. Folsom's practice is incredibly deliberate, evidence based, and considerate of the needs of her patients.

Dr. Folsom is always a joy to work with. I feel that she deeply cares for her patience and has their best interests in mind.
