Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Jennifer Brey, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in pediatric orthopedics. Dr. Brey earned her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee.
In addition to offering a full range of orthopedic care for children, Dr. Brey has special interests in pediatric sports injuries and trauma. Dr. Brey’s mission is to help children return to their preinjury function as quickly as possible while working with families to reduce the chance of future injury. She works closely with therapists, trainers and coaches to reduce sports injuries among children and adolescents. Dr. Brey aims to treat patients with nonsurgical care when possible, but does perform arthroscopic surgeries when needed.
Dr. Brey is on staff at Norton Children’s Hospital and Norton Children’s Medical Center. She also has a clinical faculty appointment with the University of Louisville School of Medicine Department of Orthopedic Surgery. She is currently the medical provider for the Western High School Warriors athletic teams.
She is a founding member of the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine (PRiSM) society and is active in research regarding meniscus tears, ACL injuries, cartilage injuries, and knee fractures in pediatric and adolescent athletes. Many of Dr. Brey’s former patients are now playing or have played at the high school and collegiate levels.
A native of Louisville, Dr. Brey has been practicing in her hometown since 2011. Away from the office, she and her family enjoy UofL athletics, where Dr. Brey earned four varsity letters in swimming. Dr. Brey is a member of U.S. Masters Swimming and USA Triathlon. She is a multiple-time Ironman finisher and competed at the Ironman World Championships in 2022.

An incredible physician, Knowledgeable and able to deliver information to my teenager in a professional way that she was able to understand. I like that she asked my daughter the questions and was respectful to her answers and concerns as well.

Dr. Brey is amazing and always a pleasure to see. We have four athletic kids, which injuries have become the norm for us unfortunately. She is our #1 go to, and if she's not available or it's an injury she typically doesn't deal with, we know she will get us to the provider we need.

Dr. Brey was outstanding! She did a great job with my daughter, provided us all of the information we needed and set up a plan which we were all very happy with. Would highly recommend Dr Brey and the entire office to anyone. Also, we were seen in the ED for the injury on a Saturday night. The next day, on Sunday, this office reached out to schedule the appointment for follow up. That was unexpected and extremely helpful.

Dr. Brey and her associate Dr. Bueno listened carefully to my daughter (patient) and myself (parent), were thorough but gentle in their examination, and provided detailed, understandable explanations for both their exams and findings.
