Biography/ Philosophy of Care

Dr. Williams has been a practicing Pediatric Hospitalist since 2007.  After completing a chief residency in Pediatrics, he became the founding member and medical director of the Baystate Hospital-Tufts University Pediatric Hospitalist group in Springfield, MA.  He was promoted to Division Chief of the group in 2008, and over the next several years oversaw the growth and development of that practice.  From 2016 – 2018, Dr. Williams was the Division Chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at East Tennessee State University / Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City, TN.   He joined the University of Louisville in 2019 as an Associate Professor of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. 

In addition to his clinical work and teaching in Pediatric Hospital Medicine, Dr. Williams has a keen interest in international medical work.  In 2011 he received a Diploma in Tropical Medicine & Hygiene from the Liverpool, UK School of Tropical Medicine.  After receiving this degree, he served as a volunteer clinician and residency curriculum advisor for several months at Redemption Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia.  Dr. Williams remains active in global health with volunteer trips and teaching of international students and physicians in Liberia, India, and Haiti.   He has also developed curriculum and a number of teaching initiatives in global health for American trainees.
