Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Andriana C. Candelaria, M.D., is a pediatric emergency medicine physician with Norton Children’s Emergency Medicine and a fellow in pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Louisville. She completed her medical degree at San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Puerto Rico and a residency in emergency medicine at the University of Puerto Rico. Dr. Candelaria specializes in the rapid evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of sudden illnesses and injuries. She is trained to make lifesaving decisions in critical moments, manage urgent medical conditions and work closely with other specialists to coordinate care. Her areas of focus include pediatric procedural sedation, stabilization of critically ill children and the use of point-of-care ultrasound in the emergency setting. She also has a special interest in using simulation to improve medical education and team performance during high-stress situations.
Dr. Candelaria’s care philosophy is centered on providing compassionate, timely and evidence-based care. She believes in treating each patient with empathy and respect, while creating an inclusive environment where those from all backgrounds feel understood and supported.
In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, traveling the world and watching football games.
