Biography/ Philosophy of Care
Natalie Stewart, M.D., is a hospital medicine physician with Norton Children’s Critical Care. See earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados and completed her pediatrics residency and critical care fellowship at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
Dr. Stewart provides care for children in the Jennifer Lawrence Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit and the pediatric intensive care unit at Norton Children’s Hospital, treating those with heart conditions, breathing issues, trauma, and other serious illnesses.
She is the program director for the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship and leads the hospital’s palliative care team. She has a special interest in heart care, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and end-of-life education. She helped create an end-of-life curriculum for ICU teams and works on training projects to improve care for critically ill children.
Outside of work, Dr. Stewart serves on the editorial board for Louisville Medicine, a publication that highlights important topics in health care. She lives in Louisville with her wife, their six children, two dogs and a cat. In her free time, she enjoys reading and cheering on her kids in their many activities.
