Biography/ Philosophy of Care

Dr. McDonald joined the University of Louisville, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Critical Care, in 2010 after practicing pediatric critical care for nine years in South Carolina. After arriving back to Louisville where he had trained, he practiced both pediatric critical care and started a pediatric acupuncture pain clinic. He was named the PICU medical director in 2012 and stepped down from this position in 2015 to become medical director of Norton Children’s Hospital.  He continues to practice pediatric critical care in addition to his responsibilities as medical director.
