Biography/ Philosophy of Care

Dr. Aaron Calhoun is a tenured associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Louisville and an attending physician in the "Just for Kids" Critical Care Center at Norton Children’s Hospital. He is an internationally recognized expert in simulation-based medical education. He is the current director of the Simulation for Pediatric Assessment, Resuscitation and Communication (SPARC) program at Norton Children’s Hospital. He also holds leadership positions in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), the INSPIRE Pediatric Simulation Research collaborative, and is a founding member of the International Simulation Data Registry (ISDR) Executive Board.

Dr. Calhoun also serves as an associate editor for Simulation in Healthcare, the primary journal in the field of medical simulation. In 2017, Dr. Calhoun was inducted into the SSH Fellows Academy.
